David Jerroll Cole, 77, of Greensboro, died February 14, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. David, better known as papa, was born on January 15, 1942, in Anniston, Alabama to Jasper and Eugenia (Willingham) Cole.
He attended Villa Rica High School in Villa Rica, Ga. He was an awesome football player and earned the nickname Bull Cole. Before he was able to finish his education, he felt the need to join the military. He joined the US Air Force in 1959 and served 4 years as a switchboard operator. While stationed in Fairborn, OH, he met his wife Cynthia Barnes and they married on April 28, 1963. He eventually ended up in Georgia where he and Cynthia (nanny) had four children, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grand children.
He enjoyed football (especially Georgia Bulldogs – go dawgs!), baseball, fishing, woodworking, spending time with his family and preaching to anyone and everyone about the Lord.
He is survived by his children: Anita Cole, Tim (Tam) Cole and Tamela (Joey) Dorsett; his grandchildren: Sherry (Jonathan) Jones, Chris Cole, Cindy (Codey) Metcalf, Jamie Cole, Joey Cole, Nikki (Tim) Allen, and Logan Cole; his great-grandchildren: Blake Jones, Calleigh Jones and Urijah Allen; his brothers: Steve Cole, Tony Cole and Jasper Cole; his sisters: Patsy Cole and Jane Hindmon.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother – Jasper and Eugenia Cole, Wife – Cynthia Cole, daughter – Lisa Yearwood, sister – Janice Cole and brother – Ben Cole.
