Christy (Poe) Stewart

Linda Crystal "Christy" Stewart, age 49, of Covington, GA, was taken home to Jesus on Friday, April 19, 2019, following a lengthy battle with cancer. 

Christy was born in Knoxville, TN to James Poe and Kay Merritt Dobbs on July 6, 1969. Upon marrying Kevin Stewart, the couple resided in Covington, GA where they also attended Belmont Baptist Church.

Christy had the wonderful gifts of mercy and encouragement and would often go out of her way to share a word of comfort or give a consoling hug to someone in need. She was very active in her church and especially loved working with children. Every year, at Christmas, Christy would donate hand knit scarves and hats to a local children's home. But Christy's greatest joy came from being a loving and godly wife and mother. 

Christy Stewart touched the lives of countless people with her smile and her words of encouragement. Among those who will miss her most are her husband, Kevin Elisha Stewart, and her son, Michael Lee Stewart; father and stepmother, James and Susan Poe; mother and stepfather, Kay Merritt and Ronnie Dobbs; brother, Aaron Poe; stepbrother, James Wilson; stepsister, Jenifer Fiorenza; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eddie and Ruby Stewart; uncles, Stephen Poe and Gary Poe and their families; nieces and nephews, Breanna Poe, Sean Poe, Jessica Masters, Roy Thomas Stewart, Wilson Stewart, Pete Stewart, and Lydia Stewart, as well as many cousins, other family members, and many friends. Christy was preceded in death by her brother, Kevin Lee Poe.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from noon until 2 PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2 PM in the chapel of A.E. Carter Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to assist the family.
