Alan Shepherd

Roger Alan Shepherd, 70 of Rutledge, passed away at his home on March 20, 2024.  He was a native of Morgan County.  He was born February 16, 1954 in Madison to Bonny and Elease Hawk Shepherd.  Alan was married to Sara Thomas Shepherd.  He was a member of the Rutledge Methodist Church.  Alan was retired from Southern States as a chemical applicator.  He enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.  He was an avid college football fan and surprisingly he loved his cats.

Alan Shepherd is survived by his wife Sara Shepherd and two children, Walter Alan Shepherd & Victoria and Gray Shepherd.  He leaves one granddaughter, Sara Gray Fuller.  Alan also is survived by a brother, Mark Shepherd & Fay as well as several nieces, a nephew and a brother-in-law Jerry Thomas & Paula.  He also leaves behind his father-in-law, William Jerry Thomas, Sr.  He was preceded in death by his parents as well as a sister, Barbara Valentine and brother-in-law, Hunter Valentine.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 4 PM at the Rutledge City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Rutledge Methodist Church or to the Rutledge City Cemetery Fund at PO Box 129 Rutledge, GA 30663.
