Thurman Berry Rainwater, 79 of Buckhead, died April 4, 2018 at his home.  Mr. Rainwater was a native of Atlanta.  He was born September 26, 1938 to Thurman B. and Doris Louise Johnston Rainwater.  He was married to Gertrude Couch.  Mr. Rainwater was retired from the Texaco Corporation where he served as a tax representative.  Since moving to Lake Oconee in 1996, Mr. Rainwater has been active in the Church of the Advent.  He is the church treasurer and Senior Warden.  He also has been serving as the Vice President of Joseph’s Coat.  Mr. Rainwater enjoyed Nascar, life on the lake and working as a Mall Santa for several years.

Mr. Rainwater is survived by his wife, Gertrude and their children, Carol Johnson & Jimmy, Allan Rainwater and Debra Bull & Dennis.  He also leaves seven grandchildren, Mandy Rogers, Brad Johnson, Taylor Berry Rainwater, Meghan Rainwater, Caleb Jernigan, Bates Jernigan and Emily York.  Also surviving are four great grandchildren and one sister, Martha Norman.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11 AM at the Church of the Advent.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Church of the Advent 338 Academy St Madison, GA 30650 or to Joseph’s Coat 1140 Monticello Road Madison, GA 30650.

Gertrude, Carol, Mandy, Brad, and family, I was so sorry to read on FB about Berry. I have many memories of Berry & Gene, living in the same community when we were young. I will be praying for you. Jerrie Bonner
